PARK MILL INTERVIEW. With the Park Mill project starting on site Tony Lewis Project Manager, Congleton recently interviewed one of the residents involved in the project Mr Martyn Harris was asked by Tony what his thoughts were on the project. TL How did you feel when you were asked if you wanted to be one of the residents in volved in the project. MH When I was asked if I wanted to become involved in the project I was very pleased to be asked and had no had no reservations in putting my name forward TL The project has included the resident involvement from the outset. How have you found this MH I have found this part of the project excellent and very interesting. TL Part of the project has included visiting Salford University to view the project on a virtual reality screen. Developing homes like this has been a very new idea. Did you enjoy this aspect of the project MH Seeing the technology involved in the virtual reality screening was amazing. Also seeing how the completed project would look and that you were going to be living there was very rewarding. TL All the residents involved in the project have been able to choose how they would like their flat to look. You have also had choices on how you would like the building to look both internally and externally. Are you happy with the choices you have made. MH As I never expected to be involved in anyway in the development of the flats, I am very happy to have had the opportunity to choose how I want the project to look. TL How do you feel about making your first move towards independent living. MH Absolutely fine, knowing that I am moving has give me something to aim for. I have spoken to some of the other residents involved in the project and they feel the same way, we never stop talking about it. TL What are your expectations from a personal point of view when you move into Park Mill. MH To enjoy having my own place, having space of my own. To use the opportunity to help me back into employment and ease my depression. TL Have their been any aspects of the project which you have not been happy with. MH Only the delay in the starting of building work but other than that I cannot be unhappy when I am involved in a project like this. TL We hope to invite residents down to the site at different stages of the development when building work begins. Would you be interested in visiting the site. MH Most definitely, hopefully this will allow for further input from the people involved. TL Has it been easier for you to become involved in a Move On project like this because you already know the residents moving with you MH This has been a very good aspect about the project. The residents involved have already begun developing a community spirit before we have moved in which is great. TL Once the flats are completed and you have moved in what kind of approach would you like to see from Adullam that will help make the project a success. MH I would like the support to continue. I would also like initial support to help me settle in and set up my flat. |
